Its the incremental flows that these charts measure & a lot more has flowed into equity ETFs in recent years than equity mutual funds.Tsachy Mishalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09704013460309564923noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36722043.post-34755695050256338742013-12-08T10:21:40.605-05:002013-12-08T10:21:40.605-05:00Tsachy,

Assets in mutual funds still account for 90% of total investments between mutual funds and ETFs ( http://www.lifehealthpro.com/2013/11/27/etf-assets-grew-to-16-trillion-in-october ). The flow characteristics for ETFs is not dissimilar to their mutual fund counterparts. The data in this post is from ICI and they also track ETF flows ( http://www.ici.org/research/stats/etf/etfs_10_13 ). Additionally, IndexUniverse tracks ETF flows as well ( http://www.indexuniverse.com/sections/monthly-etf-fund-flows.html ). In a future post I will include flow data for ETFs as well. Again thanks for your comment.

DavidDavid Templeton, CFAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08782216535717865701noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36722043.post-70865779325492215872013-12-08T09:15:46.454-05:002013-12-08T09:15:46.454-05:00I think you have to combine flows to equity ETFs ...I think you have to combine flows to equity ETFs & mutual funds since there has been a secular shift towards ETFs. These charts are very deceivingTsachy Mishalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09704013460309564923noreply@blogger.com
